London is considered by many to be the shopping capital of the UK, and even the world. From quintessential department stores and luxury boutiques to high-end high street and antiques houses, London spoils its shoppers with an array of sumptuous treats, exclusive labels and second-to-none service.

But, if you’re after the designer retail experience without the designer price tag, there’s no need to shy away from the capital. You just need to know where to look. Book train tickets to London and check out these areas for amazing bargains and shopping secrets:

Portobello Road

The famous Portobello Road is bustling with independently owned shops, many of them selling trinkets, memorabilia and antiques. Take a trip down on a Saturday to find it bustling with market stalls filled with handicrafts, jewellery pieces and nostalgic relics.

Borough

A food lover’s heaven. From Turkish Delight and hearty beef pies to fresh fish and vitamin-packed juices, Borough Market (Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays) is home to a mass of different stalls selling every type of food you can imagine. If you’re a foodie, this place is a must.

East London

Home to the brilliant Brick Lane and Spitalfields, East London is your best bet for all things authentic and vintage. From fixie bikes to second hand clothing, record shops and boot sales, nowhere compares to the laid-back vibe of the East. The best day to head down is a Sunday, when all the traders are out and you can stop for lunch at one of the fresh world food stalls. Get there early for a trip to Colombia Road – home to tens of stalls selling fresh flowers – for super cheap prices.

Camden Market

The cool, alternative Camden Market is brimming with record, book and trinket shops, clothes, food and fabric stalls. Spend the morning perusing the market and then head to the lock for a well-earned drink overlooking the canal.

Book cheap train tickets to London for a spot of wallet-happy retail therapy, and see what bargains you can pick up.
